  • Collects, receives, identifies, sorts, packs boxes, moves material to the baler machine, and operates the baler insuring the material is correct for the process.
  • General operation of the forklift trucks to include moving, loading, unloading, transferring, transporting, stacking, and un-stacking recycle material, other goods, boxes, crates, and equipment used by or in support of the recycle operations.
  • Will be required to drive a ½ ton, stable body and a stake body truck with a gross weight of more than 7,000 pounds, but less than 24,001 pounds.
  • Will be required to operate trucks where the driver will properly load the cargo assuring that it is secure and protected from becoming a hazard or causing lots of material that would litter the post grounds or roadways.
  • Will be required to complete trip tickets, perform “operator maintenance”, complete service records, and is responsible for any incident reports as related to accidents.

  • The incumbent may be required to lift moderate to heavy items regularly weighing up to 75 pounds, while performing the assigned duties.
  • The work will require walking, standing, stooping, and bending.
  • The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
  • Work is performed both inside the warehouse and outside in the receiving yard.
  • There will also be occasions when work will require working in the undeveloped areas not protected by pavements.
  • Work will be performed in all kinds of weather: hot, cold, wet, windy, dusty, and in unprotected areas.
  • The nature the work has exposure to cuts, scrapes, bruises, and skin irritants from paper handling.
  • When handling hazardous materials, protective equipment is provided.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with Army Regulation 215-3.
  • This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
  • An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.
  • Failure to satisfactorily complete the physical and/or background checks will result in separation.
  • The incumbent must have (and maintain) a valid driver’s license and may be required to carry personal liability insurance at the level required by the post and State requirements.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess the following:
  • progressive work experience related to the duties of a Materials Examiner and Identifier. Such duties could include:
    • collection, receipt, identification, sorting, packing and moving materials to a baler machine;
    • operation of gas or diesel-powered forklift trucks to load truck trailers using inclined ramps;
    • performance of "operator maintenance" on truck;
    • completion of service records, AND
  • must be familiar with a wide range of materials and equipment as well as numerous procedures, supply catalogs, technical manuals, and equipment drawings required for product and equipment verification, AND
  • must have an in-depth knowledge of warehousing or property reutilization and disposal procedures and plans, AND
  • must be skilled in handling the controls for starting, stopping, backing and driving the assigned vehicle (e.g., stake truck, forklift, etc.), AND
  • have the skill to maneuver a forklift through close passages with loaded cargo, AND
  • have the skill to operate the forklift inside buildings and outside on smooth and rough terrain.

  • This position is entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts.
  • A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
