Job Title: System Administrator

Location: Denver, Colorado (Remote, Local Candidates Only)

Job Type: W2-Contract

Job Summary:

The System Administrator will be responsible for security vulnerability patching, application updates, and deployments while ensuring the stability and security of IT systems. This role requires technical expertise in system administration, patch management, and compliance with security protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Vulnerabilities Patching and Application Updates & Deployments (80%)

  • Provide technical support for security vulnerabilities, patching, and application deployments.
  • Utilize client's incident/change order system for managing tickets and requests.
  • Support, monitor, and maintain the Tanium application and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues for Windows Server and Linux-based systems.
  • Deploy and maintain physical and virtual servers in accordance with security and operational policies.
  • Collaborate with Network, Application, Database, and Server teams for issue resolution.
  • Provide after-hours support for patching and urgent security incidents.

IT and Customer Service Management (10%)

  • Follow established client's Change Management (RFC) processes.
  • Track and maintain IT assets, ensuring compliance with security policies.
  • Share and document new procedures and best practices with IT teams.
  • Provide recommendations for software, hardware, and security upgrades.

Organizational and Project Commitment (5%)

  • Participate in team meetings and project implementations.
  • Complete client-provided training and professional development courses.
  • Research and resolve compatibility issues with legacy software.

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

  • Assist in decommissioning servers and addressing technical debt as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Microsoft MCSE certification preferred.

3-5 years of experience as an IT professional, including:

  • At least 3 years as a systems administrator in Windows or Linux environments.
  • Experience with IT controls, cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CIS), HIPAA, PCI, or security compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in large enterprise environments (100+ servers).
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems.
  • Experience managing both on-premise and cloud environments (AWS preferred, Azure, or GCP).
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Familiarity with system monitoring tools (syslog, Puppet, Splunk).
  • Knowledge of system hardening, security policies, and group policy management.
  • Experience with security tools such as CrowdStrike, Tenable, or Tanium.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • ITIL, CompTIA Security+, GIAC, CISSP, CISA, or CISM.
