The Milken Institute’s events and programmatic activities, involve the exchange of ideas with leaders from around the world. The Institute hosts more than 200 events each year, with our annual flagship event, Global Conference, bringing together 4,500+ participants from around the world, featuring more than 900+ speakers throughout 200+ sessions over the course of the event.

About The Position

The Milken Institute is seeking an Associate to support the Institute’s International Pillar. This role will be key to expanding the Institute's global presence, particularly in Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa, and Latin America.

Reporting to the Senior Director of MI International, the Associate will work closely with domestic and international teams across fundraising, program development, and project management functions. This position will also provide daily support to the Executive Vice President of MI International.

As part of a fast-growing, entrepreneurial, and dynamic team, the ideal candidate will demonstrate global-mindedness, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive attitude, while maintaining strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks against competing deadlines. Due to the global nature of the team, flexibility for conference calls outside of regular working hours is required. Travel opportunities may be considered on an ad hoc basis, depending on performance and operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support MI International in end-to-end development and execution of Milken Institute’s international strategy.
  • Undertake selective administrative duties including but not limited to calendaring, travel bookings, expense and budget tracking, as well as event coordination.
  • Serve as the overall project manager for the MI International leadership to ensure the team stays on track for operation of concurrent initiatives across multiple workstreams. Day-to-day responsibilities can include document and report generation, copywriting collaterals, and notetaking.
  • Conduct research in identified areas of need, including potential supporters, companies of interest, and emerging opportunities in global markets.
  • Ensure up-to-date management of Salesforce database, with focus on data analysis and manipulation.
  • Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; open to entry level candidates.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in international business development, global partnerships, fundraising, or related fields (or equivalent internship or academic experience).
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in a second language (preferred). International experience and foreign language skills are a plus.
  • Strong interest in global affairs, with the ability to conduct research on international markets and global issues, particularly in economic development, finance, and social impact.
  • Understanding of global markets, financial industries, and stakeholders relevant to the Institute’s work.
  • Project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects across time zones and under tight deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Experience with database management, particularly Salesforce or similar CRM tools, is preferred.

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements

This position will work in a professional office environment. This person may be required to travel occasionally to local venues to assist with events as needed, requiring occasional work outside of traditional hours. Additionally, this position requires interacting virtually on a regular basis with Milken Institute staff based in other locations in the United States and around the world.

This position will work a hybrid schedule consisting of three (3) days per week reporting in-person to the Santa Monica office location (Tuesday – Thursday), with the remaining two (2) days working remotely. Please understand, this schedule is subject to change at the Institute’s sole discretion.
