JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly skilled Controller to support our healthcare industry client with accounting and operational support. Responsibilities include but are not limited to month-end close optimization, process streamlining, and improving efficiency within the accounting function.

This is a 4+ month contract role, reporting to the VP of Finance and working closely with the existing Controller.

CONTROLLER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead month-end close process, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Optimize and automate month-end close procedures within Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP) to enhance efficiency.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Analyze and account for claims, reserves, and revenue recognition in a healthcare/insurance setting.
  • Work closely with the Controller to improve reporting, controls, and accounting policies.
  • Support audit and compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to GAAP and internal policies.
  • Assist with variance analysis, account reconciliations, and operational finance support.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between accounting and operations.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to streamline financial operations.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering professional development.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in healthcare, insurance, or claims processing.
  • Strong expertise with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP).
  • Experience with EPIC software preferred.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience optimizing month-end close processes and system workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage process improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
