Overview

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is seeking a skilled and experienced Web Administrator 2 to support its communications Division. This role involves managing and assisting in the migration of multiple related sites within TEA's flagship website, which contains over 3,000 pages. The Web Administrator will work closely with the IT Web Services team and serve as a liaison between the Communications Division and IT Web Services. The position requires expertise in Drupal CMS, a strong understanding of web and accessibility standards, and a proven ability to execute complex web designs.

Candidates must have prior experience working with state clients and in the Healthcare sector.

Must have a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and execution of website migrations, ensuring content is current, functional, accessible, and user-friendly.
  • Collaborate with the IT Web Services team to optimize website performance in terms of speed, reliability, and scalability.
  • Test code, designs, and content for validity and compatibility across different browsers and devices.
  • Monitor website analytics and performance metrics to improve user experience and functionality.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Communications Division and the IT Web Services team, translating technical requirements into effective communication strategies.
  • Assist web contributors in implementing new content, updating existing content, and enhancing website infrastructure, functionality, and design.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during the migration process and provide timely resolutions.
  • Maintain and update website content to ensure consistency and accuracy across all related sites.
  • Implement best practices for website performance, security, and SEO.
  • Administer and update website content using the Drupal CMS.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for content creation, navigation, governance, and quality control.
  • Provide support and guidance to content contributors across various offices and divisions to ensure consistent CMS usage and adherence to web content standards and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA and other relevant accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with the IT Web Services team to resolve accessibility issues and implement best practices for web design and development.
  • Assist with accessibility remediation for presentations, documents, websites, forms, and other digital content.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet or exceed the following minimum requirements:

  • Seven (7) years of required experience in web administration and web design, with significant experience managing large-scale websites.
  • Seven (7) years of required experience with Drupal CMS, including content creation, taxonomy, and navigation management.
  • Seven (7) years of required experience demonstrating a strong portfolio of complex web design projects, including expertise in user-centered design principles, front-end web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and back-end integration.
  • Seven (7) years of required experience with in-depth knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and tools for testing accessibility.
  • Seven (7) years of required hands-on experience remediating accessibility issues.
  • Seven (7) years of required experience in SEO best practices and website performance optimization techniques.
  • Seven (7) years of required experience with responsive design principles and mobile-first strategies.
  • Seven (7) years of required experience translating technical language into clear, concise communication for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience in strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams.
  • Preferred experience in explaining technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Preferred experience in preparing user documentation, specification requirements, and UX artifacts.
  • Preferred experience in keeping up with emerging technologies, trends, and standards in web development.
  • Preferred experience in being highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
