We are looking for a Camera Systems Engineer to join the Camera Hardware Engineering team. The candidate will manage a diverse set of responsibilities including the development and ownership of image simulation pipelines from first principles, creating lens specifications, driving lens bring up from design through mass production and stray light analyses for next generation camera systems. The camera hardware engineering team manages the full development lifecycle of camera systems for Tesla's vehicle and robotics platforms.

Responsibilities
- Develop radiometrically accurate image simulation pipelines
- Work cross functionally to develop high fidelity models of all aspects of the camera system such lenses, opto-mechanics, sensors and ISP etc.
- Write and maintain efficient simulation tooling to rapidly iterate on new architecture studies and root cause field issues
- Define and maintain lens specifications and standardize end-of-line OQC/IQC specifications
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of imaging system fundamentals, with a clear understanding of how to go from photons to images
- Strong coding experience in MATLAB and/or Python
- Experience with optical system analysis using lens design tools such as Zemax, CODE V etc. including tolerance analysis, macro development and analysis automation
- Experience with straylight analysis tools such as FRED, LightTools, SPEOS etc.
- Strong technical leadership skills, ability to drive vendors and a go-getter attitude where anything that does not violate physics is possible
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

$92,720 - $256,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
