Job Title: Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer

Job Location: Tysons Corner, Virginia
Eligibility/Clearance: ship required. This position supports a
government contract

About Us:

Our client is an industry leader in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and
Radio Frequency (RF) technologies. Our innovative solutions power
mission-critical applications across aerospace, defense,
telecommunications, and wireless communications. They specialize in
designing and delivering advanced RF systems, software-defined radios
(SDR), and signal processing algorithms for the most demanding
environments.

We are seeking a Digital Signal Processing Engineer to design, develop,
and optimize signal processing algorithms for cutting-edge RF systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on next-generation DSP solutions
and play a critical role in advancing our RF and communications
technology.

Job Description:

The Digital Signal Processing Engineer will be responsible for
designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced signal processing
algorithms for RF communications systems. This role requires deep
technical expertise in DSP theory, algorithm development, and RF system
design. You will work closely with hardware engineers, software
developers, and systems engineers to deliver solutions that meet the
highest performance standards.

Responsibilities:

Algorithm Development & Implementation

- Design and implement DSP algorithms for modulation, demodulation,
filtering, error correction, and spectrum analysis.

- Develop real-time signal processing software for embedded platforms
and software-defined radios (SDR).

- Optimize signal processing algorithms for performance, accuracy, and
power efficiency.

- Simulate and validate DSP algorithms using MATLAB, Python, C++, or
other modeling tools.

System Design & Integration

- Collaborate with RF engineers to integrate DSP algorithms into
complex RF systems.

- Perform system-level modeling and simulation to predict and improve
performance.

- Design and implement DSP pipelines for real-time and post-processing
applications.

- Support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and field deployment.

Testing & Validation

- Develop and execute test plans to verify algorithm performance
against system requirements.

- Use RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes,
signal generators) to validate designs.

- Analyze and interpret RF signal data for performance evaluation and
troubleshooting.

Documentation & Collaboration

- Document algorithm design, development processes, and testing
methodologies.

- Participate in design reviews, ensuring compliance with RF standards
and government regulations (e.g., FCC, MIL-STD).

- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and scalable DSP
solutions.

Requirements:

Education:

- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Signal Processing, or a related field (Ph.D. is a
plus).

Experience:

- 3-7 years of experience in DSP algorithm development for RF or
wireless communications.

- Proven expertise in real-time DSP implementation on embedded
platforms
(e.g., FPGAs, DSP processors).

- Strong knowledge of RF signal processing, including modulation
techniques, spectrum analysis, and interference mitigation.

Technical Expertise:

- Strong proficiency in DSP algorithms, including:

- Modulation/Demodulation (e.g., QAM, PSK, OFDM).

- Signal Filtering (e.g., FIR, IIR, adaptive filters).

- Error Correction (e.g., FEC, LDPC, Viterbi).

- Signal Detection and Estimation.

- Programming skills in C/C++, Python, MATLAB, or Simulink.

- Understanding of communication protocols (e.g., LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi,
satellite communications).

- Experience with RF hardware and signal chain design (receivers,
transmitters, ADC/DAC).

Soft Skills:

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues.

- Effective communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary
teams.

- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects in a
fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with software-defined radios (SDR) (e.g., GNU Radio,
USRP, Ettus).

- Knowledge of FPGAs and VHDL/Verilog for DSP acceleration.

- Familiarity with machine learning techniques applied to signal
processing.

- Experience working on government/DoD contracts and adherence to
MIL-STD.

- Active security clearance (or ability to obtain one).
