About the role

The Global Head of Spare Parts is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive global spare parts strategy to ensure cost efficiency, optimal inventory levels, and operational excellence across three global regions. Leading a team of 15+, this role oversees inventory optimization, supply chain management, and efficient warehouse and distribution operations. The position requires leveraging data analytics for strategic decision-making, driving continuous process improvements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing customer support to maximize service quality and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Global Spare Parts Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive global spare parts strategy that aligns with business objectives, optimizing availability, cost efficiency, and operational effectiveness across all regions.
  • Inventory Optimization: Implement demand planning, forecasting, and stock management best practices to ensure the right parts are available at the right time while minimizing excess inventory and obsolescence.
  • Supply Chain Management: Establish and manage relationships with global and regional suppliers, distributors, and logistics partners to secure cost-effective and timely spare parts procurement.
  • Warehouse and Distribution Efficiency: Oversee global spare parts warehousing and distribution operations, ensuring streamlined logistics, reduced lead times, and optimal inventory deployment across key markets.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage analytics to monitor parts usage, demand trends, and failure rates, using insights to refine stocking strategies, enhance predictive maintenance, and drive continuous improvements.
  • Process Standardization and Improvement: Develop and enforce global best practices for spare parts management, ensuring consistency across regions while optimizing efficiency through lean methodologies and automation.
  • Customer Support: Ensure that internal and external customers receive high-quality spare parts solutions, with a strong focus on meeting service level agreements (SLAs) and maximizing equipment uptime.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Collaborate with engineering and product teams to assess spare parts needs for existing and new products, ensuring efficient support throughout product lifecycles.
  • Financial Performance and Cost Control: Manage spare parts P&L, drive cost reduction initiatives, optimize pricing strategies, and ensure financial targets are met while maintaining service excellence.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Risk Mitigation: Ensure spare parts operations comply with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and environmental sustainability guidelines.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build and lead a high-performing global spare parts team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in spare parts management, logistics, supply chain, or operations within a global organization.
  • Proven track record of optimizing spare parts operations, reducing costs, and improving service delivery in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing global teams across multiple time zones and working with third-party suppliers, distributors, and logistics providers.
  • Expertise in demand forecasting, inventory planning, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Strong strategic vision to align global spare parts operations with business objectives, ensuring cost efficiency, quality control, and operational excellence.
  • Proficient in data-driven decision-making, leveraging analytics to drive continuous improvement, optimize inventory levels, and enhance service efficiency.
  • Skilled in supplier and contract management, with experience negotiating agreements to secure cost-effective and reliable supply chains.
  • Highly skilled in process optimization, applying lean methodologies and Six Sigma to streamline spare parts logistics and inventory management.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to build and lead high-performing global teams while fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
  • Advanced financial acumen, managing budgets, optimizing costs, and driving profitability within global spare parts operations.
