Summary

The Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) is seeking an innovative, strategic, and action-oriented Business Solutions Project Manager (Project/Program Manager III) to lead the department's ongoing Microsoft Office 365 (O365) transformation and other technology modernization projects. This role provides project planning and management to ensure successful implementation of new tools and systems, reporting to the Administrative Services Division.

DAJD is modernizing and streamlining business processes, including cloud migration, enhanced security protocols, and transitioning shared files to collaborative platforms. This effort requires a robust architecture that supports electronic records retention and disposition, incorporating records management principles. Given DAJD’s size and complexity, a tailored approach is essential to minimize disruptions and optimize service delivery.

Position Will

Project Management & Implementation

  • Lead the development of DAJD's Teams and SharePoint design and governance, serving as the primary collection administrator.
  • Act as the primary liaison with KCIT for all phases of O365 implementation, including migrating personal drives to OneDrive and transitioning shared folders to SharePoint and Teams.
  • Collaborate with DAJD Compliance, Records Management, and King County Records Management teams to assess records management impact and develop guidance for employees.
  • Design and implement custom solutions using Power Apps and Power Automate to enhance business processes.
  • Automate workflows and improve operational efficiencies through low-code platforms.
  • Gather stakeholder requirements and provide tailored technical solutions.
  • Stay up to date with emerging Teams, SharePoint, Power Apps, and Power Automate features.
  • Provide technical insights and guidance to development teams throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Lead training, workshops, and presentations to maximize adoption and effectiveness of new tools.
  • Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Advise on best practices and compliance with applicable regulations, including CJIS.
  • Adapt to evolving department needs by taking on additional projects as required.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing strategic recommendations and alternative solutions for leadership consideration.
  • Develop and deliver project updates and communications for leadership and staff.
  • Identify and address communication needs throughout project implementation.
  • Organize and promote events and initiatives related to project rollout.
  • Ensure adequate training, troubleshooting, and go-live support for new processes.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Strong knowledge of O365, including SharePoint, MS Teams, and cloud-based environments.
  • Experience in records management best practices and O365 integration.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Power Apps and Power Automate development.
  • Proficiency in Power Apps, Power Automate, and SharePoint.
  • Solid understanding of relational database technologies and integration technologies (APIs, protocols).
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with experience developing clear and effective messaging at various organizational levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and build consensus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading O365 and modern workplace transitions in large organizations.
  • Prior experience in a public safety organization and/or King County government.

WORK SCHEDULE: Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is exempt under the provisions of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), meaning that it is not eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time accrual, and the incumbent will be required to work the hours necessary to meet position responsibilities.

WORK LOCATION: The work associated with this position will be performed through a hybrid work model that will required both onsite and remote work. the ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change.

The primary onsite work location for this position is the King County Courthouse at 516 3rd Avenue, E 245, Seattle WA 98104. However, candidates must be willing and able to report to work at any one of the secured detention facilities in Seattle and Kent.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and, when working remotely, must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
