Location: Midtown NYC (Hybrid, 3 days in-office)

Duration: 1-year contract with potential for permanent placement

Our financial services client is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to join their team on a one-year contract, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent role. This hybrid position requires a strong background in data governance, data stewardship, and data management practices, particularly within the DMBOK framework.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Experience: 3 7 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in data-related roles.

Key Responsibilities & Skills

Technical Expertise:

Strong SQL skills for data analysis across different databases (e.g., ANSI SQL, Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), Oracle (PL/SQL), PostgreSQL).

Solid understanding of database design and data structures (e.g., normalization, Metamodel, CDM, LDM, PDM).

Proficiency in data governance tools (e.g., Alation, Atlan, Collibra, Informatica).

Experience with data modeling tools (e.g., Idera ER/Studio, SAP PowerDesigner, erwin).

Ability to conduct root cause analysis and process audits to drive data quality improvements.

Hands-on experience with visualization/reporting tools (e.g., Qlik Sense, Tableau, Crystal Reports, SAP Web Intelligence).

Strong documentation skills using Microsoft Visio or similar tools.

Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint for crafting compelling presentations.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., formulas, PivotTables, charts).

Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

Non-Technical & Soft Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Confidence in identifying opportunities for improvement and presenting recommendations to leadership.

Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language and vice versa.

High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.

A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a self-driven approach to issue resolution.

Experience working with privacy laws and regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR).

Patient and adaptable when training colleagues of varying technical expertise.

Ability to take constructive feedback and refine approaches accordingly.
