DATA ENGINEER - NEW YORK
**OFFERING UP TO $200,000 BASE + BONUS (WITH FLEXIBITLITY)**
A leading Hedge Fund based in New York is seeking a new Data Engineer to help build and support their Credit Data platform. This individual will help design and maintain the platform and related applications, debug and optimize existing applications, and collaborate with various teams to design and develop solutions aiding the success of their credit function.
Responsibilities:
- • Design, build, and maintain a modern data platform
- Design and build data-intensive applications - from ingestion to ETL, data quality, storage, and consumption/APIs
- Collaborate with quantitative engineers and researchers to define requirements and develop innovative solutions
- Ensure the stability and scalability of solutions while minimizing the time-to-market delivery
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a Data engineering or data-focused role
- Expertise in SQL and relational databases
- Proficiency with Python
- Experience working with data-manipulation libraries/frameworks (e.g., Pandas, Polars, Dask, Vaex, PySpark)
- Debugging skills
- Knowledge of the data components used in distributed applications (e.g., Kafka, Redis, or other messaging/caching tools)
- Experience architecting and building data platforms / ETLs
- Experience working with streaming, data lake/warehouse/lakehouse patterns
- Experience with column-oriented data storage and serialization formats
- Experience with code optimization and performance tuning
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience building REST APIs
- Experience utilizing monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, etc.
- Experience with distributed stateful stream processing (e.g., Kafka Streams, Flink, Arroyo)
- Experience working with financial instruments/software
- Experience with ClickHouse, Snowflake, or KDB
