Controller
My client, a well-established full-service law firm is seeking an experienced full-time Controller to lead their accounting team. The successful candidate will partner with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure all accounting functions are running smoothly, accurately, and timely.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining appropriate internal controls to safeguard assets, to ensure proper accounting of transactions and to promote operational efficiency within the Accounting Department and throughout the firm.
- Preparing monthly financial statement with written analysis; trace financial results on an on-going basis and prepare projections of expected results.
- Monitoring cash flow and performing cash management, including borrowing against lines of credit, investment of liquid assets and maintaining adequate compensating balances.
- Oversees all bank account transactions to ensure accuracy, including the adherence to the Florida Bar rules on Trust and Escrow accounts.
- Supervises payroll and tax reporting. Coordinates employee payroll matters with Human Resources Department.
- Assists COO in financial management and analysis, as required.
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and at least five years of relevant experience. Additional requirements include: ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in fiduciary matters, interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff with courtesy and tact, ability to conduct complex and detailed analysis of financial situations, and well-developed leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to recruit, train and motivate staff.
