Summary:

The Cloud Application Architect for the Michigan Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI) will design and implement cloud solutions while ensuring sustainability, cost control, security, and compliance. The role requires expertise in cloud architecture, application integration, and modernization initiatives. This position will collaborate with development teams, ensuring best practices in cloud deployment and IT system modernization.

Skills Required:

  • Expertise in cloud architecture frameworks, tools, and best practices.

  • Proficiency in .NET, HTML, XML, SQL, SOAP, REST, PowerShell, and IaC.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Function Apps, and microservices architecture.

  • Knowledge of relational databases, security, authentication, and web services.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to develop, integrate, and manage distributed applications.

Essential Duties:

  • Cloud Architecture & Development: Design and oversee cloud-based application architecture, integration, and modernization. Ensure compliance with DTMB policies and enterprise standards.

  • System Integration & Security: Lead the implementation of secure and efficient integration between applications and external services.

  • Application Design & Optimization: Guide developers on best practices, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance.

  • Governance & Compliance: Establish policies for cloud application design, security, and compliance. Work with DTMB and other stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship, oversee code libraries, middleware, and database integrations. Drive adoption of new technologies and industry best practices.

  • Collaboration & Documentation: Engage with stakeholders, create architectural models, conduct design reviews, and document cloud strategies.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain enterprise-level architecture policies.

  • Conduct security assessments and ensure compliance.

  • Act as a liaison between CEPI, DTMB, and external partners.

  • Lead application modernization projects and cloud migrations.
