POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Location: Cumberland County, PA (Hybrid Position)

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking an experienced Network Engineer for their Edge Networking team. The role involves providing technical support for the planning, design, maintenance, and integration of network infrastructure for various state agencies. The ideal candidate will have CCNA and CCNP certifications or equivalent experience and a strong understanding of networking protocols, SD-WAN, and troubleshooting complex network issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, SD-WAN appliances, and wireless solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues using industry-standard tools.
  • Assist in the design and deployment of LAN/WAN network architecture and enhancements.
  • Participate in change management processes and document troubleshooting efforts using Service Now.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for hardware refresh cycles.
  • Maintain network security standards and ensure compliance with OA requirements.

Required Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience in network switching and 3+ years in network routing.
  • Experience with SD-WAN and network monitoring tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from a step ladder.

Qualifications:

  • CCNA certification preferred; CCNP is a plus.
  • Ability to work both remotely and onsite as required.
  • Pennsylvania residents only, preferably from the Greater Harrisburg/Central Pennsylvania area.

Essential Functions:

  • Obtain and maintain CJIS clearances.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and network support.
  • Ensure network performance and uptime through proactive monitoring and issue resolution.
