Lead UX Designer
Title: Lead UX Designer
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid)
Seeking a Senior UX and Product Design lead to help create solutions that improve Client technology integration. The UX and Product Design Lead will play a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment of technology solutions by maintaining a strong user-centric focus and driving alignment with existing work in the field. They will work under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and use strong independent judgment.
UX Designers are responsible for:
- Overseeeing UX/UI designs to ensure design decisions are grounded in user experience and adhere to agency-wide design standards and industry-wide best practices.
- Translating research into user stories, requirements, flows, wireframes, and prototypes and collaborating on the future product roadmap.
- Employing user testing and outreach to ensure products meets the needs of the end users, in collaboration with partners.
- Partnering with the product team and other key stakeholders, including senior leadership, on design solutions and rationales; collaborating with internal and external teams of product designers, developers, and product managers.
Years Required/Preferred Experience
Experience in software product development, digital design, UX/UI or a related field
Designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices
A portfolio of user research, visual design, and usability studies that demonstrates a high level of professionalism
Experience conducting user and usability research
Demonstrated strong writing and organization skills
Demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills
Direct experience leading large-scale UX/UI efforts
Documented experience developing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes in Figma or comparable design software
Experience ensuring designs and website confirm to federal accessibility guidelines
Documented work experience with the issue tracking software "Atlassian Jira"
Documented experience working for or closely with state or local education agency
