Bell & Associates has been engaged to find our client their next Controller. The Controller will work side-by-side with the management team and will drive the implementation of scalable systems, internal controls, processes, and procedures to support growth. The Controller will also support decision making through accurate, timely and useful Accounting and Finance reports. S/he will maintain the general ledger, oversee the financial close process and prepare financial statements.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for financial statement and management reporting which includes ownership of the general ledger and monthly close process
- Responsible for core accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable and receivable
- Plan, organize and implement accounting processes and procedures to promote strong internal controls with a continuous focus on process improvement.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including all sub-ledgers.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities.
- Prepare and present GAAP financial statements in an accurate and timely manner.
- Manage the annual budgeting process.
- Monitor Accounts Receivable to ensure payments are accurate and timely. Follow up on overdue accounts.
- Review and approve Accounts Payable vouchers and weekly payment selections.
- Review and audit the weekly payroll and billing data for accuracy.
- Create and calculate KPI’s for the leadership team.
- Manage the annual financial audit by providing requested information to the external CPA firm.
- Support the annual tax process by tracking estimated tax payments and coordinating with the external tax advisor.
- Assemble subcontractor and vendor invoices, insurance certification, release and other required documents
- Month end revenue and cost accruals based on percentage of completion accounting
- Coordinate the billing process with the project team. Prepare accurate billings on a timely basis. Reconcile job costs to monthly billings. Identify and communicate unbilled/late billed costs
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, Masters or MBA is a plus.
- CPA is strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
