Sourcing and Production Manager
Basic Resources is on the hunt for a Sourcing & Production Manager to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you’ll be at the heart of our product development, sourcing and production strategies, driving excellence and ensuring our products not only meet but exceed the brand’s high standards. Reporting directly to the Senior Sourcing & Production Manager, you will be a key player in liaising with our agents and vendors, ensuring seamless coordination and timely delivery of high-quality products.
Responsibilities:
- Assign a Factory Identification number for any new vendor to be added to product packaging for tracking.
- Review product and determine best allocation for product execution and cost. Review against sourcing strategy. Add vendor to line plan when allocation is confirmed.
- Initiate Cost Quote request needed for styles on seasonal Basis within Powergrid/Costing Tool, assign to supplier if extra costs options without development.
- Request costs from vendors based on development plans from design/ PD teams.
- Review costs from all vendors that programs are developed with to determine best cost and quality for allocation.
- Renegotiate cost with vendors if initial cost received does not meet target margins.
- Contact vendor management when Time & Action Calendar is consistently not being followed. Work with vendor management to find out and resolve the issues preventing the calendar from being adhered to.
- Request updates from cross-functional teams if information is not provided within five business days.
- Advise allocation, vendor and factory name, material contents, chemical finishes, pack size to production team.
- Set up costing and create purchase order and send to vendors.
- Input fiber content per approved test report.
- Revise delivery dates based on sales/planning needs or vendor delays.
- Delete item lines on POs once customer POs are available. Read PREQ lines to POs so customer POs are visible on the PO.
- Ensure correct VAS type is adopted on PO before goods ship.
- Maintain all overages/shortages via SAP and communicate any quantities +/- the tolerance to our cross-functional teams.
- Record any chargebacks applied by the vendor and approved by Sales/ Planning via Airtable due to reworks.
- Work with the Marketing Team to push for approvals on programs with special requirements or are time sensitive.
- Determine next steps for rejected TOP and escalate to Director with thoughts on next steps.
- Reviews TOPs for new programs prior to passing to sales team and shipping.
- Determines whether pre-production submits can be combined within orders due to small order quantity or recent submission.
- Analyze WIP Report to ensure production milestones are met as per the time & action calendar. Address any delays with team approval of submits or vendor lateness with submits.
- Review all purchase orders issued weekly to ensure allocation, costing, units, and pairs are accurate. Submit to Senior Production Manager for Review.
- Ensure team is accurately maintaining the Testing Tracker. Communicate challenges team faces with Testing Tracker maintenance to QA team and work to find a resolution. Facilitates meetings as needed to discuss best practices and how teams can support each other.
- Ensure team is setting up folders in BR Cloud and informing vendors that they have been created for documents to be uploaded. Reinforce requirement of necessary cotton documents with vendors.
- Requests production samples from factory to review with compliance team to establish a range of product acceptable in production.
- Manage inquiries from Finance department regarding SIA forms needed or errors in need of correction on submitted forms.
- Analyze WIP Report to ensure production milestones are met as per the time & action calendar. Address any delays with team approval of submits or vendor lateness with submits.
- Review all purchase orders issued weekly to ensure allocation, costing, units, and pairs are accurate. Submit to Senior Production Manager for Review.
- Lead weekly team meetings to go over announcements, training, brand review, and build and maintain strong relationships.
- Meet with direct reports to discuss steps being taken towards achieving their performance goals and additional steps needed to meet them. Discuss team performance and opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in meetings with cross-functional teams to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years experience in sourcing, product development or production roles Socks/knitwear experience (Preferred)
- Experience managing a direct report
- Previous experience working end-to-end product (PD, Production, & Sourcing) a must.
- Strong at developing and mentoring talent.
- Strategic and analytical thinker with intellectual agility
- Experience working with global partners. Previous international travel preferred.
- Must have experience with cost analysis and strong cost negotiation skills.
- Strong communication skills needed
- Team- oriented. Collaborates well with others.
- Must be able to break complex problems down, communicate findings, and resolve or recommend a solution
- Strong ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure. Excellent prioritization and time management skills
- Self-starter, deadline driven, and highly organized
- Proficient in systems. Microsoft Office needed. PLM & SAP preferred
- Must be 2-3 days a week on-site
Annual salary starting $85,000.
