Outside Sales Director
BlueCotton seeks an Outside Sales Director to manage our outside sales team. The Outside Sales Director will shape and execute our outside sales strategies to drive the company’s revenue growth. This is a pivotal leadership role that sits on our executive team.
This is a 100% onsite position that sits in our office in Bowling Green, KY. Hybrid or remote candidates will not be considered.
The ideal candidate is a leader who possesses a strong sales background and thrives in an environment of continuous improvement. You must gain energy from problem solving and motivating teams toward challenging work.
AREAS OF IMPACT
- Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and mentor team of outside sales representatives. Ensure they have the necessary skills, resources, and motivation to meet and exceed individual and team targets. Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations on a quarterly basis. Determine how to manage a distributed team that includes remote employees.
- Develop Sales Strategies: Design and implement effective sales strategies that align with business goals, expand market presence, and drive profitable growth.
- Sales & Customer Service Process Execution: Understand all existing sales and customer service processes to ensure all team members are exceeding customer expectations and serving as experts in their field, anticipating the needs of customers.
- Build Strategic Customer Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients and partners, traveling to their market if necessary. Engage with customers at all levels to understand their needs, address challenges, and identify opportunities for additional sales.
- Exceed Sales Goals: Monitor and track sales metrics to ensure consistent achievement of revenue goals. Set ambitious targets and develop action plans to meet or surpass sales expectations.
- Maximize Efficiency and Productivity: Identify bottlenecks, implement process improvements, and leverage technology to improve sales results.
- Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Provide regular reports on sales performance, forecasts, and market trends. Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions and adjust strategies as necessary. Ensure all tracking and reporting tools are being correctly used by the team to ensure accuracy of pipeline management and leads
- Industry Knowledge: Learn the workflow and processes of all departments (production processes/design and web capabilities) in order to identify potential roadblocks or opportunities. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitors, and market conditions to adjust strategies and identify new opportunities for growth.
- Collaboration and Cross-functional Alignment: Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of sales efforts. Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
- Team Development: Recruit, train, and develop top talent within the sales team. Conduct performance reviews and implement professional development plans to enhance team skills and motivation.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a sales leadership role, with a proven track record of managing a high-performing sales team and exceeding sales goals.
- High volume/high activity sales experience, ideally within a startup or growth environment.
- Experience generating new sales leads and bringing on new customer accounts.
- Proven experience managing a geographically dispersed sales team.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strategic customer relationships in a competitive market. A candidate who can bring prospective strategic partnerships to the table is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in creating sales development processes, including prospecting strategies, sales playbooks, and onboarding programs.
- Proficient in using HubSpot CRM, Excel, and similar tools for reporting and analytics.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive and upbeat attitude.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing business environment.
- Ability to solve problems and implement new ideas and processes to support continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Knowledge of the apparel industry is a plus!
