DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is HIRING, and we're searching for Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (all levels) to join our group around the Raleigh area. *While you'll be assigned to a home office, most of these positions will report directly to the field/project.

The Transportation Technician is responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.

* Hands-on Training and Mentoring are provided to assist with career development.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include


  • A daily documentation of the contractor's work efforts.

  • Project field book preparation and documentation.

  • Density log book preparation and documentation.

  • Material sampling and testing.

  • Assisting with preparation of the Final Estimates package.

  • Measures distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of construction activity/layout.

  • Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations.

  • Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.

  • Obtains and prepares material samples for laboratory testing.

  • Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and accepts installation.

  • Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.

  • Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities.


KSA's:

  • Receives general instructions regarding assignments and is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.

  • Assists Senior Inspectors and/or Project Administrator with completion of specific tasks and assists in all phases of the construction project.

  • Responsible for preparing backup documentation for progress and final estimates throughout the construction project duration.



What you'll need


  • High school graduate with four (4+) years experience in construction inspection, one (1+) year of which shall have been in roadway or bridge construction inspection.

  • AAS Civil Engineering Technology plus two (2+) years experience; with at least one (1+) year roadway construction inspection experience.

  • Valid driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required.

  • Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course, and submit the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects).

  • Position requires a minimum of 40 hours a week with the possibility of overtime (Hourly).

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
