Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Senior Desktop Engineer Manager for a Contract to Hire assignment with one of our premier Regulatory clients in Rockville, MD.

This position is hybrid (2 days/week onsite)

Responsibilities :
Delivery:
  • Manage, monitor and report on the services and service levels required to support and deliver an exceptional end user desktop environment
  • Manage and oversee "White Glove" executive support
  • Hardware certification across desktop environments, and in-office devices like monitors, docking stations
  • Lead and manage teams to deliver high-quality software products on a predictable schedule
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners
  • Manage the organization's financial and budget activities
Technical and Strategy:
  • Define, communicate and execute the go-to-market strategy for end user experiences, including a clear definition of the target customer segments, prioritization, and approach
  • Document end-user policy and process
  • Evaluate and pilot new products for DEX, UWM, ITAM...etc.
  • Ensure technical integrity, compliance, firm standards, and alignment to the organization's technology strategy
  • Leverage advanced engineering practices and data driven decisions to drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, time to value, and product quality
  • Provide input to develop a flexible technical vision and roadmap within the scope of your team(s)
Communication and Collaboration:
  • Plan and coordinate activities such as installation and upgrading of hardware and software
  • Interface with helpdesk support to ensure customer needs are prioritized
  • Collaborate with Product teams to prioritize and groom backlog
  • Establish credibility as an engineer, coach, and leader to foster collaboration
  • Collaborate on and influence cross-organization and cross-product initiatives
  • Provide clear and timely communication and effective coordination with stakeholders to ensure risks, issues, and changes are well managed
Team Building:
  • Build and develop high-performing, self-organizing engineering teams
  • Manage staff performance, training, mentoring, and recruiting
  • Foster a culture of feedback and continuous improvement within the team(s)
  • Oversee activities of technicians to resolve end user issues
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline with at least 7 years of related experience or equivalent training and/or work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years as a technical engineering manager
  • 7+ years related experience in end user hardware standards, and desktop architecture
  • 3+ years related experience in end user software lifecycle management
  • Experience using MECM/SCCM, Intune, JAMF, and DEM tooling such as Aternity
  • Experience administering VDI environments such as Citrix
  • Knowledge in Windows and Mac OS imaging, patching, and software packaging
  • Perform Advanced scripting and automation techniques
  • Extensive experience in technology strategy, software, operations, assurance, devops, security, compliance, and performance optimization
  • Extensive experience influencing decisions, building consensus, and strong communication skills
  • Knowledgeable in change management principles, with the ability to rapidly learn new skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Master's degree in computer science or related discipline
