Why This Role Matters:
As a Systems Administrator, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our organization's computer systems. You'll work closely with both on-site and remote users, coordinating site visits and upgrades, resolving technical issues, and providing Tier 2/3 support for Unix/Windows workstations and servers. Your efforts will ensure the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure, supporting vital business processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks.
- Monitor accounts, ensure security, and handle OS installations.
- Implement, troubleshoot, and maintain IT systems and infrastructure.
- Provide day-to-day support, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 issues.
- Communicate status updates to agency management and internal customers.
- Install and load operating systems and application software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems.
- Configure network components and enhance operating systems for improved reliability and performance.
- Perform software installations and upgrades, ensuring compliance with policies and service level agreements.
- Maintain and manage multiple linked databases, ensuring security, data safety, and integrity.
- Conduct routine and emergency maintenance of data center equipment.
- Coordinate scheduled preventive maintenance with customers.
- Develop, administer, and test backup and recovery plans.
- Ensure systems are secure using tools like Retina and HBSS.
- Maintain operational, configuration, and other standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Verify system availability with existing enterprise tools.
- Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Security+ certification or DoD 8570 Level II equivalent within 90 days of hire.
- TS/SCI Clearance required and eligibility to obtain CI Poly.
- Experience with UNIX, Windows, and/or Storage administration.
- Familiarity with trouble reporting and tracking systems.
- Ability to provide on-call support and respond to after-hour calls.
- Willingness to travel 0-20% to local and other locations.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to lift/move/carry equipment (up to 40 pounds).
- Experience in the imagery intelligence domain.
- Ability to create and modify scripts on Windows, Linux, and Solaris systems.
- Knowledge of customer processes and production systems.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Skills in Windows Server, Red Hat, IRIX, Solaris, Sybase, Informix, SQL, and Imagery Production Chain.
- General knowledge of database and network administration.
- Valid US passport.
