Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with CEO, President and executive team to develop and execute agency-wide strategic initiatives
- Lead long-term financial planning and forecasting, with specific focus on recurring revenue streams
- Drive business perpetuation strategy, including ownership transition planning and valuation
- Lead M&A strategy, including target identification, due diligence, deal structuring, and post-merger integration
- Provide data-driven insights on business performance and strategic opportunities
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators for growth and operational efficiency
- Structure and execute internal ownership transfer programs
- Oversee all financial operations including accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, and tax
- Develop and maintain robust financial controls and risk management systems
- Lead annual budgeting process and monthly/quarterly forecasting
- Manage banking relationships and ensure adequate capital structure
- Drive operational efficiency and process improvement initiatives
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance team
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Serve as a trusted advisor to department heads on financial matters
- Lead cross-functional initiatives requiring financial expertise
Years of Experience:
- 7+ years in senior financial leadership roles
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- MBA and/or CPA preferred
Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in financial planning, analysis, and modeling
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Proven experience managing recurring revenue business models
- Proficiency with ERP systems and financial software
- Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools
- Track record of managing complex commission/incentive structures
- Demonstrated expertise in M&A due diligence and deal execution
- Experience in business valuation and ownership transition planning
- Background in structuring buy-sell agreements and succession plans
- Excellence in building and analyzing financial models for business valuation
- Experience with trust accounting and/or managing client funds
- Knowledge of insurance agency metrics and KPIs
- Familiarity with agency management systems
- Understanding of carrier contingency bonus programs
- Experience with premium finance operations
- Background in professional services or financial services industry
- Experience with generational business transitions
- Knowledge of ESOP and other ownership transfer structures
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills
