Job Overview

As the Government Relations Specialist, you will monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory action at all levels and strategically devise and execute action plans to advance DFW and industry interests. Under the general direction of the Senior Board & Government Relations Manager, you will lead the governmental affairs functions at the state, federal, and international level.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Executes legislative engagement, takes lead level support on policy responses, regulatory strategy and developing advocacy strategies for review.
  • Represents DFW Airport on local, state, and federal policy initiatives at public hearings, briefings, and meetings, either solo or with other members of the government relations team. This includes preparing supplemental materials.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Owner Cities, elected officials, and key government stakeholders.
  • Conducts research, compiles and prepares reports on legislative and regulatory issues.
  • Coordinates and facilitates high profile tours for members of Congress, state legislators, diplomatic representatives, industry stakeholders, and other VIPs.
  • Responsible for event coordination for the annual Congressional Delegation retreat at DFW.
  • Research lobbying firms and supports leadership in identifying potential partners for contract bidding.
  • Travels to meet with congressional delegates and elected officials to advocate for DFW’s interests.
  • Prepares and presents proposals on policy initiatives and strategic engagements and assists with the creation of departmental objectives and helps track and report results.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, political science or related field.
  • Three (3) years or more experience in public/government/legislative affairs environment.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
