County is seeking a Deployment and Desktop Support contractor to support hardware refresh efforts in Charlotte, NC. This position is critical for ensuring that equipment (laptops, desktops, peripherals, etc.) is up to date with county hardware standards and security policies. The successful candidate will be responsible for reimaging and deploying laptops and desktops, including peripherals, at multiple locations.

This role requires on-site presence in Charlotte, NC, and may involve lifting and moving hardware regularly. The candidate should have experience working with medium to large-scale deployments and should be comfortable working in a classroom-style setting daily.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reimage and Deploy Hardware: Reimage existing laptops and desktops, and deploy new laptops and desktops (and peripherals) to various locations within Mecklenburg County.
  • Hardware Refresh: Facilitate the refresh of laptops, desktops, and other peripherals to bring them into compliance with county hardware standards and security policies.
  • Large-Scale Deployments: Participate in and assist with large-scale deployment efforts of 500+ machines, ensuring all equipment is properly configured and functional.
  • End-User Support: Provide direct support to end-users during the deployment process, ensuring a smooth transition to new systems.
  • Collaboration: Work with other IT teams to ensure proper setup, configuration, and deployment of devices.
  • Documentation: Maintain records of deployment activities and ensure that all hardware is accounted for and appropriately tracked.

Skills and Qualifications:

Required:

  • Lifting Ability: Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds regularly.
  • Large-Scale Deployment Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience with large-scale deployments (500+ machines preferred).
  • Standing and Movement: Ability to stand and move around in a classroom-style setting on a daily basis.
