Job Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Sr. Cloud (Azure) Data Engineer/Architect to join a dynamic team working on cutting-edge cloud technologies. In this role, you will collaborate with developers and architects to support the design, implementation, and optimization of data solutions on Azure. You will help drive the cloud strategy forward and provide leadership on cloud best practices, architecture, and optimization. Your work will focus on performance tuning, troubleshooting, and supporting the goal of automation/infrastructure as code.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and optimize cloud data solutions, working closely with developers to ensure seamless integration and performance.
- Troubleshoot and optimize performance issues within the Azure cloud environment.
- Participate in peer reviews and provide thought leadership around cloud architecture and best practices.
- Support the transition towards Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings and work with Azure-based services such as Azure SQL, Azure VMs, and Data Factory.
- Work with security teams to ensure compliance and best practices are followed across the Azure stack.
- Provide expert-level T-SQL support, focusing on code review and optimization.
- Contribute to automation and infrastructure as code (Terraform), driving towards more efficient and scalable solutions.
- Support the continuous improvement of cloud solutions and processes to meet business needs and improve efficiency.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering, cloud architecture, or a related field, with deep experience in Azure.
- Strong expertise in Azure cloud technologies, specifically:
- Azure SQL
- Azure Virtual Machines (VMs)
- Azure Data Factory
- PaaS (Platform as a Service) offerings within Azure
- Experience with Databricks is a plus.
- Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL, with a strong focus on performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Strong knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation and management of Azure resources.
- Familiarity with cloud security best practices and how they are applied within the Azure stack.
- Proven ability to review, optimize, and troubleshoot code in a collaborative, innovative, and performance-focused environment.
- Ability to think strategically about cloud architecture and lead discussions on best practices in Azure.
- Must be able to convert to permanent without sponsorship.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Microsoft patching processes.
- A collaborative and innovative mindset, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with performance training and educating peers on best practices in Azure data engineering.
- Excellent communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
