The Francis Howell School District is seeking a Director of Secondary Education to serve as part of the Academic Team and as a member of the District Leadership Team. The Director of Secondary Education will coordinate all improvement efforts for the middle schools (6-8), high schools (9-12), and alternative high school. They should have strong knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction, program evaluation, budget management, and data analysis. A successful candidate should possess the ability to lead improvement efforts toward identified instructional targets by motivating and mentoring building-level administrators and facilitating systemic change strategies with an emphasis on progressive educational practices. Responsibilities include but are not limited to facilitating regular meetings for building leaders, supporting and monitoring the school improvement process for middle and high schools, overseeing programming and improvement efforts at the alternative high school, evaluating middle and high school principals, regularly collaborating with District athletic directors, identifying and developing improvement goals for secondary schools, providing professional learning to secondary building leaders, problem-solving issues at the middle and high school levels, facilitating the early college program, serving as the district liaison for the CAPS and Lewis & Clark programs, supporting all aspects of college and career readiness K-12, as well as library media specialists K-12. A successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to collaborate with various stakeholder groups, and experience in developing and successfully executing action plans.

Basic Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education, or a related field (doctorate preferred)
- Successful teaching experience at the secondary level (minimum 5 years)
- Successful building principal experience (minimum 5 years, at least 3 as building principal)
- Successful district-level leadership experience is preferred (2 years preferred)
- Strong proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office software
- Ability to supervise others and provide coaching and feedback
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience with strategic / action plan implementation and monitoring
- Demonstrate sound judgment, social competency, and resourcefulness
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong time management skills
- Ability to problem-solve with a diverse group of stakeholders, including teachers, families, community members, and administrators
- Experience with school improvement efforts and proven success of increased data/achievement under leadership
