What you’ll do

The Business Data Analyst supports strategic initiatives and tactical challenges of the credit union from a data presentation and interpretation role. The Analyst collaborates with departments across the enterprise to gain understanding of their business objectives, research possible data solutions, and then provides timely and actionable data in the form of lists, reports, and visualizations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Serve as a consultant to business stakeholders in support of accomplishing their strategic initiatives and tactical objectives from a data perspective.
  • Understand the connection between processes and systems, the data they capture, and how to use KPI’s to measure process effectiveness.
  • Identify and interpret patterns within complex data sets with the goal of providing a meaningful story, tailored to the audience.
  • Develop and deploy QlikSense and Power BI dashboards to collect data-backed insights.
  • Create ad hoc data sets for marketing and other internal business needs.
  • Organize, manage, and report on your work and projects using Agile and Scrum best practices.
  • Collaborate with the BI architecture and ETL team in the ongoing development of the enterprise business intelligence ecosystem.
  • Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications.
  • Follow all safety and security guidelines to properly safeguard member and organization assets.
  • Comply with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance requests and requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, & Ability

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Consultative, service-oriented approach to gathering requirements and serving stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to determine and manage scope, then coordinate and complete deliverables on time, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Understanding of data warehouse concepts and dimensional modeling.
  • Intermediate level T-SQL skills.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Qlik Sense and/or Power BI is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office product suite.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect of sensitive information.
  • Pre-employment background review (components include criminal, employment, address, social security number, motor vehicle record, sex offender, and global sanctions).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Information Technology, or a Bachelor of Science, along with a proven affinity with data.
  • Prefer 2+ years of experience working in data analytics, utilizing SQL. Experience designing reports and dashboards with Power BI, Qlik Sense, or similar data visualization tool.

This position has a starting pay range of $80,000.00-$100,000.00/annual, and final pay rate will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity factors.

Working Environment/Physical Activities

High volume, fast-paced, dynamic office environment with infrequent travel. Must be able to attend meetings/events outside of regular business hours. The job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. The position requires bending, stooping, and standing as necessary.
