General Statement of Duties
Forsyth County's Park and Recreation Department is looking for an Intern. This position is a great opportunity to work at Tanglewood Park. This is a part-time position that begins in May and ends in September (in duration of the Aquatic Center and Mallard Lake operational season, Reservation Season, Special Event Season)
This position requires teamwork, leadership, and customer service skills. This position works with various clients on requests for all special events located at Tanglewood Park. This person will utilize online reservation systems, process payments, create contracts and keep records of billing information.
This person will prepare and distribute event schedules and event itineraries. This position will be asked to check-in shelter reservation and accommodate reasonable request from patrons. This position will assist with the annual planning and assisting with Festival of Lights, Aquatic Center, Mallard Lake and other seasonal park operations and events.
This position will learn and execute the behind the scenes work of large and small scale event planning for events that work in conjunction with the Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Department.
This position will work a typical schedule of 30 hours per week Monday-Friday within the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Availability on weekends and at night will be required at times, however, limited.
Distinguishing Features
A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of public recreation operations and facilities.
Ability to interact tactfully and courteously with the public.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees.
Ability and experience in operations of a cash register/point of sale system.
General knowledge of boat operation.
Scheduling of multiple employees.
Ability to build event schedules.
Ability to plan and assist with large and small scale events.
Minimum Education And Experience
Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma/GED and currently be enrolled as a full time student at a college or university in a Parks and Recreation or relevant major.
A valid drivers license is required.
