Job Description
To assist the Labor/Employee Relations Department and hiring of hourly positions.
Essential Functions
- Reviews applications and conducts required research on applicants/candidates to verify eligibility for employment offer.
- Ensures the allocation of personnel to work sites is consistent with District goals.
- Monitors application files to ensure candidates meet licensing, education and other requirements.
- Advises supervisors and principals seeking to fill job openings.
- Assists in offering employment to selected candidates and authorizes employment commencement.
- Coordinates advertising for available positions following established procedures.
- Manages and oversees the hiring process of district hourly employees
- Establishing processes and disseminating information
- Collaborating with schools and departments to hire hourlies
- Obtaining necessary fund approvals for staffing positions from Finance/Budget Office and Grant Management
- Determining appropriate pay rate for hourly positions
- Coordinates and manages the advertising and hiring for hourly positions following established procedures
- Verifying eligibility of employment of hourly applicants/candidates
- Managing the updates and revisions to the District's negotiated agreements for all bargaining units to include online and print editions
- Support union and associations union leaves, differentials, and negotiations.
- Coordinates and schedules employee relations meetings
- Prepares letters and other documents related to personal matters
- Prepares documentation for meetings or hearings regarding discipline, discharges, terminations, arbitration, evaluations and unemployment
- Administers the Districts human resources policies and procedures as they pertain to employee relations.
- Assists in meetings with district employees regarding job-related concerns and assists in resolution.
- Assists in advising principals and supervisors regarding employee matters
- Coordinates and oversees maintenance of required personnel records
- Responds to questions regarding the interpretation and administration of personnel policies throughout the District.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects.
- Ability to coordinate the work of others.
- Proficient with word processing, database and spreadsheet software.
- Knowledge and experience in labor and employee relations practices.
- Human resources experience within a school district
- Bachelor's Degree and three years' experience in education, personnel management or related field, OR and Associates Degree and 7 years of experience, OR a HS Diploma/GED and 11 years of experience.
