Position Summary

SHEIN Global Security & Risk Management is a global security organization that oversees security infrastructure, risk management, data privacy, governance and regulatory compliance across SHEIN’s global footprint. We’re seeking a full-time, highly motivated Security Engineering Intern (Automation) (Official title: Intern) for our Los Angeles-based corporate office, who will work on security engineering automation initiatives aimed at improving security operations, threat detection, and response workflows. This is a full-time 8-week internship opportunity starting on June 16, 2025, and ending on August 8, 2025. The position will focus on automating security processes, integrating security tooling, and developing scripts and playbooks for security event handling.

As an intern, you will collaborate with security engineers, DevSecOps teams, and cloud security professionals to develop and implement automation solutions that enhance security posture, reduce manual overhead, and improve incident response efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or advanced undergraduate student looking to gain hands-on experience in security automation, scripting, and engineering best practices.

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in security engineering and automation, opportunities to work with industry-leading security tools and platforms, experience in integrating security automation in cloud and enterprise environments, mentorship from experienced security engineers and DevSecOps professionals, and a chance to contribute to meaningful security automation projects that improve security posture.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement security automation scripts and playbooks for incident detection, response, and remediation.
  • Automate security monitoring, alerting, and enforcement using APIs and security tooling.
  • Work with SIEM, SOAR, and cloud security platforms to integrate and streamline security workflows.
  • Build infrastructure-as-code (IaC) templates to automate security configurations in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Assist in automating vulnerability management and remediation workflows.
  • Develop and maintain security dashboards for real-time threat visibility.
  • Work closely with security engineers to identify manual processes and develop automated solutions.
  • Research and evaluate new security automation techniques, frameworks, and tools.
  • Document security automation scripts, workflows, and best practices.

Job Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a graduate or advanced undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Go) for automation.
  • Experience with security tools and APIs (SIEM, SOAR, EDR, IAM, Cloud Security platforms).
  • Familiarity with cloud security concepts and automation (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Strong understanding of security principles, including identity and access management (IAM), logging, and incident response.
  • Experience working with log data, security events, or integrating security alerts with automation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for streamlining security operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and present automation workflows.
  • Experience with SIEM (e.g., Splunk, ELK, Microsoft Sentinel) and SOAR (e.g., Cortex XSOAR, Splunk Phantom, AWS Security Hub) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of container security and automation (Docker, Kubernetes, CSPM) is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for security automation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines and integrating security automation in CI/CD workflows is preferred.
  • Exposure to threat intelligence automation and automated malware analysis workflows is preferred.
