The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Advisor, Plastics Circularity – North America to lead the development and execution of an impactful program supporting industry response to SB-54 in California and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) implementation in Canada. The Senior Advisor will play a key role in convening and leading a consortium of stakeholders—including industry leaders, government agencies, NGOs, and solution providers—to advance circular economy solutions. Key Responsibilities

1. Program Development & Implementation

  • Design and implement a North America-focused program that supports industry adaptation to SB-54 and EPR regulations in Canada.
  • Conduct market and policy assessments to identify key challenges, opportunities, and pathways for industry compliance and leadership.
  • Develop actionable roadmaps that help companies and stakeholders transition to circular economy models.
  • Lead program execution, ensuring timely delivery of objectives, milestones, and impact metrics.

2. Industry & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and lead a consortium of industry players, policymakers, and solution providers, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with brands, recyclers, policymakers, NGOs, and investors.
  • Represent the program at key industry events, roundtables, and regulatory discussions.
  • Facilitate stakeholder working groups to drive consensus-based solutions for plastic circularity.

3. Business Development & Funding

  • Identify and develop business opportunities that align with industry needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Secure funding and investment for program initiatives through partnerships with corporations, government agencies, and impact investors.
  • Drive the commercialization of circular economy solutions, including material recovery initiatives, advanced recycling technologies, and packaging redesign.

4. Project Portfolio Management

  • Source, evaluate, and oversee a portfolio of high-impact projects focused on plastics circularity.
  • Assess project feasibility, scalability, and business alignment to ensure successful implementation.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and track program impact through data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in sustainability, plastics circularity, waste management, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of EPR frameworks, SB-54 compliance, and the North American regulatory landscape.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute sustainability programs in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Exceptional business development skills with a track record of securing funding, partnerships, and industry buy-in.
