About The Role
As Director/Senior Director, Corporate Development (AI/Software), you will play a critical role in supporting Raven’s AI and software-focused company creation efforts. Working closely with RA Capital’s investment partners, you will conduct rigorous diligence on emerging AI and software opportunities, providing the strategic, technical, and commercial insights necessary for investment decision-making and venture formation.
In addition to market and technical diligence, this role will have a strong project management component, ensuring that multiple AI/software newcos progress efficiently through key milestones, from concept validation to company launch. You will work cross-functionally with investment partners, founders, and operational teams to keep new ventures aligned, structured, and on track.

- Investment & Market Diligence: Conduct research and analysis on AI and software business models, competitive landscapes, and regulatory considerations to support partners in developing investment theses.
- Technical & Commercial Due Diligence: Evaluate the feasibility, scalability, and differentiation of AI/ML technologies, data strategies, and software architectures in potential newco concepts.
- Project & Process Management: Oversee timelines, key milestones, and deliverables across multiple AI/software newco projects, ensuring alignment, progress, and accountability.
- Business Model & Strategy Development: Work with venture teams to structure financial models, revenue strategies, and operating plans for AI/software newcos.
- Operational Execution: Support early-stage venture teams with initial company formation, advising on hiring, partnerships, GTM strategy, and key operational milestones.
- Competitive & Sector Mapping: Develop landscape analyses of emerging AI/software sectors, identifying white spaces and differentiation opportunities.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Act as a bridge between Raven, RA Capital investment teams, technical founders, and external partners to ensure alignment on company-building initiatives.
- Stakeholder Communication: Synthesize complex technical and market insights into clear, actionable reports and presentations for investment partners and venture teams.
- Ecosystem Engagement: Build relationships with leading AI/software researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts to enhance Raven’s network and opportunity pipeline.
- PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field along with a MBA preferred; Alternatively, a strong technical background with demonstrated expertise in AI/software product development
- 10+ years of total experience, with at least 5+ years operational experience in early-stage venture capital or management consulting focused on AI/software newco strategy, plus additional operational experience in a startup, corporate innovation, or venture-building role.
- Strong project management experience, with the ability to track multiple newco initiatives, manage timelines, and ensure milestones are met efficiently.
- Deep understanding of AI/ML applications, data infrastructure, and software commercialization models.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience conducting market research, financial modeling, and due diligence for AI/software businesses.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical and strategic insights into compelling narratives.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, capable of operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
