  • Serve as the working leader over the maintenance section of the Recreation Center assigning tasks to be performed to individual members of the maintenance section.
  • Check work in progress and when finished for compliance to procedures, methods, and specifications according to manufacturer's technical specifications.
  • Repair and maintain a variety of gasoline/diesel powered equipment.
  • Use a variety of test equipment such as equipment analyzers, electric chargers, compression testers, micrometers, and electric circuit testers.
  • Wait on customers, by checking identification, issuing equipment, assistant and providing information at time of issue on proper care, use and responsibility of equipment.

  • Occasionally required to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • The work is performed either inside or outside. However, it is generally done inside in an area that is dirty, oily, and grassy and there is constant exposure to cuts, bruises, and burns.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays on a regular basis or as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience or training that indicates sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of this position consistent with acceptable practices of the trade.
  • Position requires a diversity of knowledge and skills in performing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic repairs on equipment operated by diesel/gasoline powered engines.
  • Position also uses welding skills to weld metals and plastics, basic carpentry skills to build benches, basic painting to refurnish bikes and boats, and body work to repair fiberglass boats and skis.
  • Incumbent must use judgement to determine what items should be purchased and/or recommended for purchase.

FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives may be paid.
  • Up to 25% relocation, recruitment, and/or retention incentive may be authorized.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
