- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field or Associate’s Degree PLUS 2 years of medical or legal experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- RHIA or RHIT preferred
Additional Information:
- Review insurance remits and determine what medical records the insurance company needs to adjudicate patient claims.
- Determine based on the request where and how the records are processed and where the records need to be sent.
- Designate whether records need to be printed, uploaded to portals, and/or transmitted electronically.
- Learn each payor and work with the payer’s guidelines.
- Work within the timeframes expected and report any delays in processing.
- Contact insurance companies to ensure records sent are received at the appropriate insurance destination.
- Communicate and interact with payors as required.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
