HonorVet Technologies is seeking a travel Correctional Mental Health for a travel job in East Elmhurst, New York. Job Description & Requirements
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (40 hours per week)
Job Responsibilities: Assess the needs of arrested individuals and understand the process from arrest to arraignment. Identify and relay relevant healthcare information in a timely manner for smoother screening. Establish rapport with stakeholders in central booking facilities, including police and corrections. Coordinate with hospital clinical staff, community treatment providers, and public defense agencies. Identify clients suitable for behavioral health intervention and serve as a liaison between community providers and public defense agencies. Gather historical behavioral health information using the jail-based electronic health record (EHR).
Required Qualifications: Valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license issued by NYSED (Primary Source Verification). Master’s Degree (MSW or Master's in Forensic Psychology preferred). Minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience providing direct counseling, guidance, crisis intervention, or referral services to inmates, substance abuse populations, or similar groups. Strong organizational skills for data collection and performance reporting. Preferred experience working within the criminal justice system or with justice-involved populations (3-5 years). Knowledge of the criminal justice and public health systems in NYC, including the Mayoral Task Force on Behavioral Health and Criminal Justice. Established relationships with Legal Aid, New York County Defenders, and Neighborhood Defenders preferred. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
