Description
- This position involves a significant amount of day-to-day employment counseling with respect to wage and hour, discrimination and general employment matters. The ideal candidate will have ten to twelve years of experience.
- This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.
- Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
- Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
- Juris Doctorate (JD) required.
- Must be licensed to practice law in the State of New York.
- Strong research, writing skills, and academic record.
- Experience as a first-chair handling litigation concerning discrimination and/or wage and hour claims.
- Experience counseling on New York State and New York City employment matters.
- Some experience with labor relations in the hospitality industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with the New York State Hospitality Wage Order strongly preferred.
