Responsibilities

  • Response for legal affairs of the Los Angeles office, serve as a contact for below-the-line legal matters arising during development, pre-production, production, post-production, and launch.
  • Draft and negotiate production agreements and custom legal agreements and supporting legal documents, in close collaboration with teammates and business colleagues, including agreements with vendors, contractors, and consultants, across a wide range of subject matter.
  • Represent the company in handling litigation, arbitration, and other legal disputes. Protect the company's legitimate rights and interests. Cooperate with external lawyers and legal consultants to ensure the efficient handling of cases.
  • Be responsible for the application, maintenance, and protection of the company's intellectual property rights (such as trademarks, patents, copyrights, etc.). Handle intellectual property infringement disputes and formulate relevant protection strategies.
  • Collaborate and consult with, advise, and guide senior management, producers, and other departments.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in CA.
  • 8+ years of experience required/ film and television industry business preferred.
  • Fully fluent (written and oral) in English and Chinese at a professional level is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of intellectual property licensing and clearance.
  • Familiarity with the basics of motion picture content acquisition and distribution is a plus, as is familiarity with SAG-AFTRA and other guild issues.
  • Highly motivated and resourceful with the ability to work proactively and independently.
