Our SelectLeaders client is the largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative in the world with over 5,500 locally owned and operated hardware stores in approximately 70 countries. They are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team and oversee the accounting operations for the company.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all professional accounting activities including preparation of financial reports, managing accurate accounting records in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and risk management through controls and budgeting processes.

The Accounting Manager will also oversee Human Resources and participate as part of the general management team.

Key Responsibilities/Job Functions:

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Manage all outsourced functions
  • Oversee and participate in accounting operations
  • Manage and coordinate inventory systems
  • Manage purchase order processing and receiving functions
  • Ensure accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and take all reasonable discounts
  • Manage accounts receivable and collections
  • Process payroll in a timely manner
  • Handle bank reconciliations
  • Ensure payments on debts are made as required
  • Maintain a chart of accounts and an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Assemble benchmarks and measure performance of various company operations
  • Produce an annual budget and forecast
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant differences
  • Provide financial analysis as needed
  • Coordinate annual audit as needed (review)
  • Monitor debt compliance and covenants
  • Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Responsible for overseeing a range of HR functions including updated employment records, salary and payroll reporting, benefits administration, employee services, onboarding/new hire orientation and training, maintaining proper employee staffing levels and performance management


Technology Responsibilities:

  • Manage EPICOR software and updates
  • Manage internal systems and networks
  • Manage contracts with data providers
  • Manage credit card processing


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Business
  • 3+ years of retail or experience in a position with similar responsibilities
  • Eye for Detail: Accuracy is critical in this role.
  • Strong organizational, communication (both written and verbal) and decision-making
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and most recent Windows and Excel software
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Capacity to handle multiple tasks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of flexibility, adaptable to changing demands.
  • Timely, organized, punctual, positive team player

  • Those activities associated with general office work including but not limited to sitting, walking, standing, talking, or hearing, for long periods of time.
