Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Leadership: Serve as a visible advocate for safety on the shop floor
- Process Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of all critical processes, equipment, and inputs to create effective control plans
- Process Development: Oversee existing workflows and conduct research to transform them into efficient, improved manufacturing processes
- Technical Analysis: Evaluate product or equipment specifications to determine achievable processes within current manufacturing capabilities
- Training and Documentation: Review training materials and conduct cross-training sessions on updated operating procedures
- Performance Monitoring: Test and monitor production processes to identify and implement necessary improvements
- BOM Management: Update existing Bills of Materials (BOMs) based on cycle time studies and assist R&D with creating new BOMs for product development
- First Article Testing: Conduct FAT for new tooling in injection molding, pipe extrusion, and blow molding
- New Product Launch Support: Collaborate with operations and product development teams to successfully launch new products
- Data Analysis: Design experimental test programs, analyze data, and ensure processes meet performance criteria
- Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 6S, and Kaizen methodologies to enhance quality and efficiency
- Root Cause Resolution: Conduct root cause analyses of quality complaints, implementing action plans to prevent reoccurrences
- Lean Manufacturing: Eliminate waste in value streams and ensure product variation is minimized
- Team Development: Train, coach, and motivate team members to adopt new processes and techniques
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; alternatively, 5+ years of experience in the plastics industry is required
- Experience: 3+ years in injection molding, blow molding, or extrusion (all three processes a plus)
- Other Skills: ERP system experience is essential. Familiarity with ABS and polypropylene materials is an advantage. Proven problem-solving skills in manufacturing, particularly in metals or plastics industries
- Preferred Expertise: Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma projects, and ISO 9001 compliance
- Travel Requirement: Frequent travel between plants may be needed
- Physical Requirements: This role may involve frequent bending, lifting, and moving objects up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations are available as needed
