Position: Technology Intern Location: 4725 Piedmont Row Drive, Suite 600 Charlotte, NC Job Id: 5611 # of Openings: 0

Role: Testing, Process Management and Documentation

Overview

An Information Technology team is developing a custom software application for an Amwins reinsurance team. Their current software solution has exceeded the anticipated lifespan and must be replaced. Over the past ~18months, the technology and business team have been:

  • Understanding the business process and application requirements,
  • Refining the functionality a replacement application needs to provide,
  • Building & fine-tuning user interfaces, and
  • Iteratively testing development.

This summer, we expect much of the application development to be complete. This internship will focus on helping the team review the solution with business users and identify improvements for the best user-experience possible. We have a long testing timeframe where we can drive a balance of focused/functional testing as well as end-to-end testing for the business. Our goal is to make sure the business receives the best application possible when they go-live on September 1st. Ultimately, success will be based on how well the project team and business collaborate to improve application functionality and provide the business with a comfortable starting point using their new application.

We are looking for a rising Junior or Senior that is interested in:

  • Work in the software test environment to execute test scripts and identify bugs and/or improvements then log them in our work management system.
  • Execute a variety of use cases to identify any issues in workflow, data movement, or calculations.
  • Help document a user test plan that guides the users in their testing and evaluation of the new software system.
  • Support the implementation of the document management system.
  • Under the guidance of the Product Owner, engage with the business to ensure testing is taking place, feedback is provided, and our project team is communicating effectively with business test team.
  • Develop user guide(s) for the business to use as reference material.

The Intern Candidate Must

  • Be well organized and process oriented.
  • Effectively communicate in verbal and written formats.
  • Have technical aptitude that enables them to navigate through software systems.
  • Be comfortable working with new people in a variety of roles in the organization.
  • Take initiative to create work products and accept feedback.
  • Be willing to work in the Amwins office 3-4 days/week.
