The Opportunity
We are actively looking for a Document Control/Assistant Construction Manager candidate with three to five years of experience to join our team based out of San Diego. In this dynamic role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the daily activities within the Document Control function and provide Construction Management support as needed. The ideal candidate for this opportunity can work independently, is collaborative, personable, and possesses a strong desire to make a positive contribution to the business.
Responsibilities
- Work on document control activities either independently or with minimal supervision
- Prepares documentation for approval and distribution to both internal and external customers
- Manage controlled documentation through the document lifecycle, maintaining compliance with applicable procedures and/or regulatory requirements
- Maintain files of engineering drawings, project reports, specifications, and other documentation
- Maintain database of all internal controlled documentation, document change requests, and any external documentation
- Perform observation of construction including writing daily reports detailing the work done by the construction contractor in the field as required
- Create routine and detailed reports for management and others, including information regarding outstanding items in project, delays, key milestones and/or close out preparation
- Maintaining and logging daily construction inspections, Inspector reports, safety reports
- Prepare weekly meeting agendas and minutes
- Participates in opportunities to improve performance or processes
- Provide administrative support of the engineering process
- Partner with and assist Construction Managers
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience in a document control position
- Three to five years of relevant experience
- Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and standards
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and is comfortable working in a fast, deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency in Deltek/Vantagepoint CRM software strongly preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) required
- Highly motivated and willing to take the initiative
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of the engineering/construction industry a plus
