Transportation Manager

The Transportation Manager leads a team of 90+ drivers and dispatchers, overseeing daily transportation operations to ensure timely and compliant deliveries. This role ensures DOT regulations are met, maintains a productive and safe workforce, and forecasts business volume to optimize scheduling and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise transportation operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and workforce planning.
  • Oversee fleet management, including equipment procurement, maintenance schedules, and compliance with licensing and permitting.
  • Develop and manage budgets, implement cost-saving strategies, and ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Enforce safety policies, conduct accident investigations, and lead driver safety meetings.
  • Manage staffing, including hiring, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT and regulatory requirements (driver qualification files, hours of service, IFTA reporting, etc.).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Logistics preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in logistics or distribution.
  • Knowledge of DOT rules, FMCSA guidelines, OSHA regulations, and fleet management.
  • Strong leadership, budgeting, and technical skills (Excel, JD Edwards, voice selection technology).
  • Class A CDL preferred.
