We are looking for a Content Creator + Content Manager / Editor to help us achieve refining and upholding our brand standards for content and turn them into world leading standards for the people we serve, growth across all content areas (email, podcast, YouTube, Social, website) consistent with company goals.

Your primary role is to own revising and setting new standards for all of our PoP (Path of Possibility) content (for the purpose of helping even more people get to their own version of fulfilling work).

WHAT YOU DO (The Super Short Version)

  • Immediately: You will plan the content schedule, strategizing and plan launches and own the content creation process (working with other team members, hosts, guests, editors) to produce the Happen To Your Career podcast, YouTube Channel, email and social posts. You’ll ensure that every email we send out, and every podcast we publish meets all of our PoP content requirements.
  • This means: You will need to be able to dig in and learn our content inside and out, and use your skillset to revise and implement changes so that we are optimizing all content and marketing to meet our goals: Create all our content for the purpose to educate, give hope, empower people to share, allow for people to opt-in/continue to engage and above all be genuinely helpful, personal, and stand out.
  • In the future: (As we hit specific goals and milestones) you will be part of a growing P & Marketing Team.

KEY RESULTS YOU OWN: (How to know if you’re winning):

  • Content schedule - Always planned 3 months ahead of time (minimum) ideally closer to 6 months.
  • Content Project Management - Effectively we hit publish deadlines everytime with content that exceeds our “PoP Content” standards.
  • Quality Standards - We exceed PoP (Path of Possibility) Content Standards
    • We get podcast reviews, emails and other feedback saying “Happen To Your Career literally changed my life” or “I can’t live without the HTYC podcast”.
    • Our podcasts Subscriber counts are going up exponentially on Spotify and Apple podcast players and YouTube because people can’t help but subscribe, listen and share.
    • Our email active subscribers, clicks, opens continuously increase.
a Small Sampling Of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Continually develop and raise the standards for all content from HTYC (continual improvement and growth).
  • Lead planning and conception of stories/content (articles, podcast episodes, email, and social media) and own corresponding editorial calendar.
  • Collect content ideas from HTYC clients, podcast listeners, readers, and team-based on questions
  • Project manage content from beginning to end.
  • Write innovative original content for email and website articles using HTYC teachings.
  • Write and test headlines, titles, blurbs, and for target audience responses.
  • Oversee administration and content management of our websites; continually monitor traffic and engagement metrics to optimize the overall website experience and outreach activities.
  • Manage budgets for all content-related expenses.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to innovate content based on consumer and technology trends; drive the ongoing digital transformation of the newsroom.
  • Ensure that all content supports HTYC goals and priorities.
  • Shape and edit content to a world-leading standard, and coach writers to tell great stories; evaluate performance to consistently improve their work.
  • Ensure that photos, illustrations, videos, and other visuals used in storytelling are top of mind, accurate and appropriate, and enhance the user experience.
  • Serve as an HTYC resource on high-quality writing and storytelling.
  • Launches/Email marketing: Activities surrounding planning program launches, writing emails.
  • Podcast: Episode planning, writing podcast introduction scripts, descriptions, supporting copy.
  • Writing/Editing: Work within brand voice to create, update, and refine blog posts, guest posts on other sites, teaching notes, course video scripts, slide decks, workbooks, bonuses, and ancillary materials as needed. GOAL: Making sure that what we put into the world is “Anti-Vanilla” and different material (and fits our values below).

Required Experience (the Stuff You Must Have)

Note: There aren’t numbers of years on here because those are BS, instead if you believe you have 80% plus of what we need, I would encourage you to apply.

  • Significant experience as an editor (maintaining quality standards, developing a narrative, coaching others to improve their writing or content).
  • Significant experience writing (you probably have written for fun and for work… a lot).
  • Significant experience writing and testing headlines (we might spend 60 minutes on one leading headline, so this is a big deal).
  • All the errors in this posting have to bug you a little bit.
  • Working with email service programs (like convertkit, hubspot, keap, pardot or mailchimp or similar).
  • You love diving deep into owning all things content related: You know what it takes to make a podcast stand out, gain subscribers, and are not afraid to be creative to get it done. You know our content and can write amazing PoP Content for our audience.
  • You have solid experience in running a successful podcast, YouTube channel or both: You know all the moving parts, you know what needs to be done, and you get results.
  • You know your way around WordPress: You know how to build and edit pages, work with plugins, optimize pages for SEO, and it’s no big deal to you (but you enjoy making it awesome).
  • You can execute much quicker than the average person: You're used to running laps around the average person in corporate America.
  • You can't help making things better: Continuous improvement is a silly term because it's just a way of life for you.
  • You find solutions: You can’t help it, when something goes wrong you have a “I will figure this out and make it happen” mentality about you!
  • You’ve worked remotely before: This is a nearly 100% remote work position - You must have worked remotely before.

Non-requirements - This Means Bonus Points If You Have

  • Journalism experience (or love the interview process to get to the truth and also find the story, we need you).
  • Direct Response Copywriting experience.
  • Other Marketing Experience.
  • Background in behavioral science or behavioral psychology.
  • Podcasting… all experiences.
  • Have worked for WSJ, CNN, WNYC, the Muse, or similar institutions.
  • Video or audio content production experience (or just worked around it and are familiar with the process).
  • Have made lots of big career changes yourself.
  • Already are very familiar with our brand and what we stand for - HINT our podcast is a great way to become familiar with what we do.
  • You’ve used scrum, kaizen, or agile work methodologies. (We use these for helping our clients progress and for our own company work).
