ASSYST is seeking a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator to support the Administrative Applications Production Data Services team for our client in Austin, Texas.
This role involves providing on-call and operational support for critical application databases with complex data models, reports, and workflows. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Oracle database environments and demonstrate advanced expertise in database performance tuning, modeling, and optimization.
Job Type: Contract (Corp to Corp/C2C or 1099)
Job Location: Austin, Texas (Hybrid)
Please Note: Position will be 3 days remote with 2 days (Mon & Fri) required to be onsite at Austin, Texas. Program will only allow candidates who are LOCAL TO THE AUSTIN AREA ONLY.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Oracle database systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, and optimal performance.
- Enter codes and execute programs to create, modify, monitor, and tune production databases.
- Conduct performance tuning to improve database response times and resource utilization.
- Review and correct database-related programs and answer user questions regarding database functionality.
- Collaborate with coworkers to assess impact, costs, and design implications of proposed database changes.
- Perform logical and physical data modeling, including relational model design and schema optimization.
- Modify database programs to increase efficiency and ensure system integrity.
- Monitor and analyze daily/weekly database backups and restore procedures.
- Provide technical assistance for database design and maintenance during application development phases.
- Support disaster recovery planning and execution, including database recovery from hardware/software failures.
- Implement and monitor database security standards and access control procedures.
- Develop, maintain, and standardize data dictionaries and naming conventions across databases.
- Create and maintain test database environments including libraries and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Data Warehouse team on data requests and reporting functionality.
- Perform scripting to automate database tasks and statistics generation across all environments.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical database incidents and maintenance.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- 6 years of experience in Oracle database design, analysis, and performance tuning
- 6 years of experience with Oracle database structures and performance monitoring
- 6 years of experience designing enterprise applications/services
- 6 years of experience developing technical and functional documentation
- 6 years of experience in SDLC using Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum)
- 6 years of experience in multi-tiered system/application development (SOA, Microservices, 3-Tier)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 of experience with data warehouse applications and reporting features
- 1 of Jira project/task tracking experience
- Oracle Certification (OCA/OCP/OCM)
