- The incumbent will coordinate changes in the surgery schedule with the patient and OR staff; ensure timely History and Physicals; organize lodging/admission consults, coordinate surgical equipment/prosthetics/representatives for cases to reduce cancellations and increase OR utilization. In addition, the incumbent will provide pre-operative education to surgical patients as directed by the Surgery NPs and Chief of their assigned Surgery Section; coordinate multiple consult/appointment follow ups as needed and any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
- Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- Make 2-day prior-to-surgery patient phone calls
- Requires a working knowledge of the organization, the surgical process, and an in depth knowledge of surgical procedure requirements.
- Oversee coordination of all pre-operative work-ups
- Provide communication link between administrative support staff, Surgery staff, and other departments that are stakeholders for each surgery section
- Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care.

Physical Requirements: The population of male and female veterans served ranges from the adult, age 18, to the elderly adult, age 65 and over. VAAAHS is a major interdisciplinary teaching facility, serving medical, surgical, and neurological inpatients and outpatients. There is a large outpatient psychiatric and medical/surgical population, with admissions for medical coÂmorbidities. This is a direct patient care position and the incumbent must be able to meet the physical demands. Generally this position does not require heavy patient lifting but there will be times when patient or object lifting or patient transfers are required so the incumbent must be able to lift at least 45 pound. This position requires the ability to use both hands, walking & standing 8-12 hours; repeated bending 8 hours; ability for rapid mental & muscular coordination simultaneously; This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity (near vision correctable @ 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; depth perception; ability to distinguish shades of colors; hearing (aide permitted). The incumbent is required to use the computer and phone at least four hours daily. Basic Requirements:
