The impact you will have in this role:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Kubernetes Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will support Red Hat OpenShift and assist developers with their migration and ongoing needs. You will develop automation to eliminate toil and setup GitOps processes. While deep programming skills are not required, a basic understanding of coding is a plus.

As a Kubernetes Engineer, you will demonstrate your knowledge of Kubernetes to help handle and optimize our containerized applications. Your willingness to learn, troubleshoot, and provide support to developers is crucial. Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude are essential for success in this role.

Your Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the installation and configuration of selected technologies
  • Collaborate with various collaborators groups and team members to design required solutions that meet DTCC standards for security, resiliency, and reusability
  • Provide immediate support for production issues related to areas of expertise
  • Provide support for off-hour / weekend implementation and Disaster Recovery tests as required
  • Author system documentation and supporting documents to ensure transparency of design to minimize future maintenance costs
  • Deliver targeted business outcomes by participating in the technical decision-making process
  • Analyze changing business requirements to determine impact and optimal solution regarding defining the future state technical architecture
  • Follow established DTCC requirements, principles and models that guide technology decisions for the enterprise (standard processes)
  • Applies knowledge of technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to contribute to the decision-making process
  • Monitor metrics to ensure system performance meets requirements
  • Ensure alignment to the governance, standards and best practices established by DTCC
  • Ensure delivered solutions enable infrastructure agility, scalability, and resilience to support required product needs throughout product lifecycle.
  • Aligns risk and control processes into day to day responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk; advances appropriately

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience

Talents Needed for Success:
  • Assisting in the deployment and management of Kubernetes and OpenShift environments.
  • Collaborating with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the migration to OpenShift.
  • Ensuring the stability and performance of our Kubernetes and OpenShift environments.
  • Communicating effectively with developers and other collaborators to facilitate a smooth transition and ongoing support.
  • Develop automation through a GitOps process
  • Basic experience with Kubernetes concepts, such as pods, services, and deployments.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes networking and security standard processes.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Basic programming skills are a plus. ( ex. Go, Python, Java)
  • Knowledge of CICD tools sets, (Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, ArgoCD)
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certifications
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments
  • Fosters a culture where honesty and transparency are expected.
  • Knows the latest on changes in their own specialist area and seeks out learning opportunities to ensure knowledge is up-to-date.
