Software Engineering Specialist II (Senior Data Analyst)
The Santa Clara Superior Court is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Data Analyst to help build a strong foundation for data analytics and support the court s reporting and decision-making processes. This role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining data-driven solutions to improve court operations and case management, including data extraction, transformation, visualization, and automation to streamline reporting and support data governance.
The ideal candidate will have proficiency in cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, WhereScape, or similar ETL/ELT tools, along with strong experience in SQL for data manipulation and analysis. Expertise in data visualization tools, similar to Power BI, and programming languages like Python or R for data analysis is also essential. The Data Analyst will be responsible for developing scalable reporting solutions, optimizing queries, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver actionable insights. Experience in data warehousing and architecture, as well as familiarity with predictive analytics, machine learning, or AI-driven insights, is a plus. A deep analytical mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for leveraging data to drive meaningful improvements will be key to success in this role.
This position may require occasional travel to court facilities, partner courts, or external agencies to support operations and project implementations.

This position is eligible to work Primarily Remote with the following conditions: the majority of work during the term of the remote work project will be performed from participants homes or other remote work location.
Working On-Site: Given advance notice, participants will still occasionally be required to report to Court locations to work for full or partial day(s), depending on the assignment, may be required to report in person for a project over a period of weeks or months, instead of working remotely. Under some other circumstances, all participants will have to be prepared to report to a work site within 12 hours upon notice from the Court. In non-urgent circumstances, notice of no less than 24 hours shall be provided, that participants must report to a work site.
These positions are remote positions and are onsite only when needed. The remote status of these positions is subject to change if deemed necessary by the court.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:This is the expert programmer in the series. When operating in the areas of systems design or implementation of new systems designs, this class is also the first level lead on major projects. This class is at the full working level and which may serve as project leader over smaller design or implementation projects or as team leader in maintenance programming.
Training and experience equivalent to graduation from a college or university with a major in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a closely related field and three (3) years of progressively more responsible experience in systems analysis or programming.
Submission to a background investigation is required upon conditional offer of employment.
