Technology Support Specialist
Provides routine technical support and service of hardware, software, and web applications used by students, faculty, and staff. Assists in maintenance of the campus network infrastructure and supervises student personnel as needed. This position reports to the Coordinator of User Support and is part of a larger team of support staff. This is an on-site position.
- Provide support to all users of the College network technology, hardware, software, web services, and classroom equipment.
- Oversee the acquisition, configuration, and installation of computer and other campus technology.
- Create and maintain images used on faculty, staff, and lab computers.
- Assist in providing oversight of day-to-day activities of student workers employed by the help desk.
- Engage cooperatively with other members of the Information Technology Services team in the maintenance and service of the administrative system hardware, network, and telecommunications equipment.
- Develop the annual technology refresh plan for faculty and staff computers.
- Maintain a current and accurate inventory of all technology-related equipment owned by the College.
- Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to a diverse academic community, fostering an inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff from a variety of social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
Education and Experience
- A Baccalaureate degree in computer science, information systems, or an appropriate discipline (2 years of directly related work experience may substitute for a degree.)
- Minimum of 2 years experience using networked software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, database, e-mail, and web browsing.
Knowledge and Skills
Required
- Maintaining and troubleshooting Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Ability to perform on-site hardware maintenance of computers, printers, and other technology-related hardware used on campus.
- Ability to work in a team environment providing support for a diverse constituency of users, including students, faculty and administrative staff is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft 365 environment
