Senior Tableau Developer
100% Remote. We are seeking a skilled Tableau Developer with a strong background in healthcare data to support data visualization and reporting efforts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with Tableau, a solid understanding of HL7 standards, and HIPAA compliance. This role will be instrumental in building dashboards and reports that transform complex healthcare data into actionable insights for a range of stakeholders, including technical teams, clinicians, and government leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and reports using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server.
- Integrate and visualize data from diverse sources, including CSV files, SQL Server, EDWs, and healthcare-specific formats such as HL7.
- Ensure all data handling and reporting activities comply with HIPAA regulations and safeguard PHI (Protected Health Information).
- Collaborate with data analysts, business users, and data engineers to gather requirements and translate them into effective visualizations.
- Optimize dashboards for performance, usability, and accessibility.
- Support ad hoc analysis and reporting needs from state agency partners or healthcare organizations.
- Maintain technical documentation for data sources, dashboard logic, and update schedules.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in data visualization and reporting, with 3+ years focused on Tableau development.
- Proven ability to build and optimize complex Tableau dashboards and visualizations.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Teradata).
- Familiarity with HL7 messaging standards and how they are represented and used in reporting.
- Deep understanding of HIPAA regulations and secure handling of healthcare data/PHI.
- Experience working with project teams in an Agile or Scrum environment
- Experience working with or supporting state agencies is highly preferred.
- Effective communicator with the ability to work independently and collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.
