Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Manager to spearhead growth in the U.S. market. This individual will play a critical role in expanding the company’s footprint by identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities across federal, state, local government, and partner organizations. This is a consultative, solutions-based sales role focused on driving long-term value through strategic engagement, opportunity capture, and strong customer relationships.

You’ll be a key contributor during a period of high growth, actively shaping the future of the company in North America. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and requires the ability to work independently, manage complex sales cycles, and influence at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Build, manage, and grow a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities through networking, referrals, events, cold outreach, and targeted prospecting.
  • Identify key decision-makers, influencers, and champions within target organizations, particularly within government agencies and the defense/security sector.
  • Understand the full procurement lifecycle including budget timelines, funding sources, RFP/RFI processes, and vendor qualification.
  • Guide prospects through the sales process, from needs discovery and solution positioning to proposal support and contract negotiation.
  • Collaborate with the Bid Manager to support RFQs/RFPs and pre-qualification processes.
  • Consistently meet or exceed sales targets and revenue objectives.

Strategic Planning & Market Development

  • Represent the company at key industry conferences, trade shows, partner meetings, and government forums across the U.S.
  • Develop and maintain detailed capture plans for high-priority pursuits.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs to refine go-to-market strategy.
  • Identify and evaluate new market segments, regional opportunities, and potential new products or services.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and market-entry initiatives.

Client Engagement & Retention

  • Manage and grow relationships with existing clients; introduce new products and services and uncover additional needs.
  • Promote a customer-centric culture focused on value, trust, and service excellence.
  • Ensure ongoing communication and satisfaction to increase client retention and long-term value.

Sales Operations & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate opportunity and customer data in CRM software (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.).
  • Provide regular status updates in team meetings, forecasting reports, and business reviews.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement actions to optimize the cost-efficiency of sales activities.
  • Support the creation of business cases, marketing campaigns, and promotional materials.

Key Requirements

  • Proven success in B2G sales, particularly within U.S. federal, state, or municipal government sectors.
  • Experience selling technical, safety, training, or defense-related solutions (CBRN, EOD, HazMat experience a plus).
  • Excellent consultative sales skills – ability to understand client needs, align solutions, and drive value.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills at both operational and executive levels.
  • Experience with U.S. government procurement, funding processes, and tender submissions.
  • Demonstrated success managing resellers, partners, and international distribution channels.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills (1:1, group, conference settings).
  • High level of business acumen with a track record of personal revenue generation.

Tools & Technology

  • Proficient in CRM and marketing automation platforms.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office, cloud collaboration tools, and virtual presentation platforms.

Desirable Knowledge

  • Background in CBRN, HazMat, or defense/security technologies.
  • Understanding of simulation training tools or protective detection systems.
