Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Manager to spearhead growth in the U.S. market. This individual will play a critical role in expanding the company’s footprint by identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities across federal, state, local government, and partner organizations. This is a consultative, solutions-based sales role focused on driving long-term value through strategic engagement, opportunity capture, and strong customer relationships.
You’ll be a key contributor during a period of high growth, actively shaping the future of the company in North America. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and requires the ability to work independently, manage complex sales cycles, and influence at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
- Build, manage, and grow a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities through networking, referrals, events, cold outreach, and targeted prospecting.
- Identify key decision-makers, influencers, and champions within target organizations, particularly within government agencies and the defense/security sector.
- Understand the full procurement lifecycle including budget timelines, funding sources, RFP/RFI processes, and vendor qualification.
- Guide prospects through the sales process, from needs discovery and solution positioning to proposal support and contract negotiation.
- Collaborate with the Bid Manager to support RFQs/RFPs and pre-qualification processes.
- Consistently meet or exceed sales targets and revenue objectives.
Strategic Planning & Market Development
- Represent the company at key industry conferences, trade shows, partner meetings, and government forums across the U.S.
- Develop and maintain detailed capture plans for high-priority pursuits.
- Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs to refine go-to-market strategy.
- Identify and evaluate new market segments, regional opportunities, and potential new products or services.
- Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and market-entry initiatives.
Client Engagement & Retention
- Manage and grow relationships with existing clients; introduce new products and services and uncover additional needs.
- Promote a customer-centric culture focused on value, trust, and service excellence.
- Ensure ongoing communication and satisfaction to increase client retention and long-term value.
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Maintain accurate opportunity and customer data in CRM software (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.).
- Provide regular status updates in team meetings, forecasting reports, and business reviews.
- Monitor KPIs and implement actions to optimize the cost-efficiency of sales activities.
- Support the creation of business cases, marketing campaigns, and promotional materials.
Key Requirements
- Proven success in B2G sales, particularly within U.S. federal, state, or municipal government sectors.
- Experience selling technical, safety, training, or defense-related solutions (CBRN, EOD, HazMat experience a plus).
- Excellent consultative sales skills – ability to understand client needs, align solutions, and drive value.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills at both operational and executive levels.
- Experience with U.S. government procurement, funding processes, and tender submissions.
- Demonstrated success managing resellers, partners, and international distribution channels.
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills (1:1, group, conference settings).
- High level of business acumen with a track record of personal revenue generation.
Tools & Technology
- Proficient in CRM and marketing automation platforms.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office, cloud collaboration tools, and virtual presentation platforms.
Desirable Knowledge
- Background in CBRN, HazMat, or defense/security technologies.
- Understanding of simulation training tools or protective detection systems.
- Familiarity with export controls, U.S. ITAR compliance, and global trade regulations.
- Comfortable navigating small business environments, with a hands-on and entrepreneurial mindset.
